In recent years, competition in the Banking Sector has increased a lot. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the Central Bank of India that regulates all the public and private sector banks in India. RBI conducts an online exam every year to select candidates for the recruitment of assistants in its various branches. RBI exam is a highly rated exam after the Officer Grade B exam. Those who have completed their graduation are eligible to take this exam. RBI Assistant Exam Pattern

RBI conducts the Assistant exam in two stages in online mode. One is prelims and the other is the mains exam.

Prelims exam is conducted for 1 hour with 100 questions. It has three sections: English Language (30 questions), Numerical Ability (35 questions), and Reasoning Ability (35 questions).

The Mains exam is conducted for 2 hours 15 minutes with 200 questions. It has five sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Computer Knowledge and General Awareness. Every section has 40 questions. Every question carries 1 mark. Be careful as ¼ mark is deducted for every wrong answer. Once you clear the mains, you have a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) conducted in the official language of the state.

1. Study according to the syllabus

Strictly follow the RBI Assistant syllabus for a better understanding of what to study and which topics are less or more important.

2. Make a proper timetable

You must make realistic goals to achieve your daily targets. We advise you to start with reasoning and quantitative aptitude. Once you are done with this, focus on other parts. Plan specific timings for each section daily.

Questions are of a higher level. You must learn shortcuts for this section as questions are lengthy and you must increase your speed and accuracy by practicing as much as possible. Don’t waste time if you get stuck at a question.

5. Reasoning Ability

Focus on Number Series, Coding and decoding, Blood Relation, Problem Solving, Puzzles, Statement & Conclusion type questions, Inequalities, Seating arrangements, Direction & Sense, Venn Diagrams. Your analytical and reasoning skills are tested in this section. You can expect moderate to high-level questions.

To attempt questions of each type, you have to practice at least 40-50 questions daily. You can score really well in this section if you focus and practice well. You should improve your observation skills to score in the Alphanumeric Series.

6. Numerical Ability

You should approach smartly for this section as questions are simple and direct but are tricky. Practice data interpretation daily to get a grip on it.

7. English Language

The level of questions in this section is moderate to difficult level. Focus more on Comprehension Passage, error spotting, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Re-arrangements, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Cloze test. You should have strong knowledge of grammar, comprehension, etc. Learn new words from newspapers, dictionaries, magazines and practice them daily.

Practice managing time as comprehension passages are lengthy. You should increase your reading speed to answer a decent number of questions. You should be able to summarize whatever you have read. You should be fast and accurate in the grammar and sentence correction areas.

8. General Awareness

To ace this section, you should be aware of all the facts and current affairs. You can expect questions from news related to RBI and its history, National and International news, International Organizations, Banking and Financial terms, Government Schemes and Initiatives, Books and Authors, Monetary and Fiscal Policies, Technology, Sports Tournaments, etc. You should improve your skills by reading editorial sections of newspapers, current affairs books, yearbooks etc.

9. Computer Knowledge
