All You Need to Know About the Different Types of Fuel Trucks

People generally worry more about the price of fuel than where it comes from, or how it arrives. But if you are caught in a natural disaster such as floods or a hurricane, the worry will shift from the prices to how to access the fuel. In the event of a life threatening emergency, heavy vehicles may be required to supply fuel to such areas to prevent loss of lives. Here are some sophisticated trucks used to deliver fuel to various emergency areas.

1. Bobtail Trucks

These trucks are manufactured in varieties of shapes and feature different carrying capacities. Some can carry a maximum of 1100 gallons of fuel whereas others can carry as much as 4500 gallons. They have the ability of supplying fuel into any tank. Besides, they can also distribute fuel into smaller units such as motor vehicles, portable fuel tanks and generators.

They feature a dual pumping system that dispenses gasoline and diesel simultaneously. They also have reverse pumps in case of need for defuel. Bobtail trucks are the most commonly used vehicles to transport fuel from storage tanks to areas where it is needed.

2. Transport Trucks

These long vehicles are huge compared to bobtail trucks. Their maximum carrying capacity is about 8500 gallons of fuel. Transport trucks are mainly used to transport fuel from the source to a large storage tank. They can also refuel bobtail tanks whenever necessary.

Their large capacity makes them a preferred choice in the event of a natural disaster. During such times, they supply the affected community with enough fuel for backup to enhance rescue operations.

3. High Water Trucks

High water fuel trucks are uniquely designed to easily navigate in areas affected by floods. It will be almost impossible to supply fuel to communities experiencing floods without the help of these vehicles. High trucks have been used in numerous rescue missions in flooded areas.

One example is the 2016 Louisiana floods when heavy downpour resulted into water rising above 20 inches in the community. The vehicles were used to transport fuel to those areas enabling the rescue teams to successfully carry out their operations.

4. Vacuum Trucks

As the name suggests, vacuum trucks have powerful vacuum gadgets to enable them respond to specific emergency cases. Vacuum trucks are capable of eliminating not only fuel spills but also contaminated and expired fuel.

They consist of sophisticated parts whose working features complex processes that enable them suck all the unwanted fuel. The vehicle removes fuel from one region where it is not desirable to a different region where it might be needed.

5. Mobile Fueling Stations

These are not vehicles but trailers that have solved fuel problem in areas experiencing emergencies. They have 1500 gallons capacity characterized by series of fuel stands where vehicles and generators can be refilled simultaneously. They were purely for emergencies although they are gaining a commercial dimension especially in remote areas.

Emergency vehicles require to be operated by trained personnel. Most of their drivers are qualified engineers who understand how to operate them. They play a noble role of supplying fuel to where it is needed most.
