Some people would rather employ a cleaning person that isn’t a worker in any formal cleaning agency. While this is a lot cheaper than working with an agency, it can be quite risky. If you have come to realize this (we hope it wasn’t through the hard way), then you most likely are in search of a domestic cleaning agency.
While an agency is more expensive than a sole cleaning person, it is not as risky. This is not to say that there aren’t some unscrupulous agencies out there that also pose these same risks. However, you can very well avoid them by simply ensuring you do your due diligence before employing the agency.
Simply checking the cleaning agency’s website is not enough to conclude that they are trustworthy and reliable to do a good job. You have to also do some very important things and consider some important factors before you can be sure that the service you are considering is reliable.
Below we will be discussing some of these important tips and factors to help you choose a reliable domestic cleaning agency in London or even anywhere else in the world.
1. Referrals
The first place to go searching for the service should not be the internet. Although the internet is a great place to search, with this service, asking for referrals from people around you like your neighbors, family, and friends is the better option. The reason for this is that this is a common service and someone you know most likely would have had an experience with an agency around you.
If they had a great experience, they will be more than happy to make that referral. If they didn’t they also won’t hesitate to warn you against getting involved with the company. The referral you get from someone you know will most likely be more reliable than anything you can find on the internet.
2. Services Being Offered
The services offered will vary from one company to the other. If you have a unique need, then you need to be sure that the company you get will be able to cater to this need. You want to find out whether the services are fixed or if you can make requests. Sometimes, you may just need to get some specific things done and not the regular service. Will the company be able to work this way for you?
You also want to find out the details of what you are being offered. As we have said, what is being offered by one company may not be offered by another. That a company doesn’t offer some services doesn’t mean they aren’t reliable, it simply means that isn’t their area of focus. So, you do not have to bother yourself about which one is right or which is wrong. You simply need to look for the company that has the options that best suits your needs and lifestyle.
3. Experience and Accreditations
Experience most often than not is an indication of expertise. When a business has been operational for a substantial period, then the owners most likely know what they are doing. It also means that they have been delivering good services enough to ensure that they don’t run out of business. So, you need to be sure that the company you choose has enough experience.
Another sign of reliability is being affiliated or having accreditations from professional organizations. So, check and see whether the company you are considering has any accreditation from a professional organization or if it is affiliated (like being a member) to one.
4. Worker’s Compensation and Insurance
Another thing that has to be considered is whether the agency has workers’ compensation and insurance. This is a very important factor that you must not brush over as you consider the company. If the company you choose doesn’t have insurance, then any damage that happens to your house or any stolen item’s cost will have to be covered by you.
Also, if a worker gets injured while on the job, are they covered? If they lack this coverage then you will be liable for the worker. This will just be an additional cost that would have otherwise been avoided.
Companies that have insurance often have higher costs but this should not deter you. When you choose a company with insurance, you can rest assured that you are covered regardless of anything that happens. Remember, you will be letting a total stranger into your house and things can go south. Isn’t it better to be prepared against the unknown with just a little extra cost rather than paying heavily later on?
5. Check Online Reviews
When you check online to see what people have to say about the agency you are considering, keep your expectation level on average. You most likely won’t find all good talks about them as it’s almost impossible to please everyone. So, you will find negative comments, but you shouldn’t let them put you off the good ones. If they have great reviews mixed with a couple of bad ones, then you can give them a pass.
But, if the bad reviews far outweigh the good ones, then it will be best to walk away in the opposite direction and save yourself future stress. Also, if the reviews are all good, you need to have a rethink.
The internet is home to many things and fake reviews are one of them. Therefore, it could be that fake reviews have been submitted to just make the agency look good when in all honesty they may not be. Hence, keep your eyes peeled out for fake reviews. Read this article to find out how to figure out which reviews are fake online.
The bottom line is that while reviews can help you figure out the reputation of an agency you are considering, they can sometimes be misleading. Therefore, if you are using this tip, you need to be as meticulous as possible to ensure you don’t get misled.
Conclusion
Getting domestic cleaning services involves letting people you don’t know walk into your house. Now, a lot can go wrong if the wrong person is hired. This risk can be mitigated by working with an agency rather than a single cleaning person. The risk can still be further mitigated by ensuring the agency being hired is as reliable and reputable as can be. Before you choose a domestic cleaning agency, be sure to do your due diligence by following all of the tips we have discussed in this article.
